John (Jack) F. Casey
Jack passed away January 17, 2018 in Pompano Beach, Florida at the age of 95.
Jack was born in 1922 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Thomas and Winifred Casey.
He is a World War II Veteran serving in the Navy as a blimp pilot flying off the coast of the United States as far south as South America. He married the former Maire (Peggy) O’Connell in 1951 in Winnipeg, Canada. Following their marriage, they moved to Colorado, where Jack attended the University of Colorado.
Jack and Peggy moved to New Jersey where he spent most of his career with Alcan Aluminum as an engineer, before retiring and moving to Florida. Jack was very involved with the Navy League. He served in many offices including Counsel President, Director of the Ft. Lauderdale Counsel and National Director Emeritus.
One of Jack’s biggest joys was watching his Chicago Cubs. Following the World Series Win in 2016, Jack was presented with a letter from the Cubs management thanking him for his life long support.
A devoted husband, Jack is preceded in death by his beloved wife Peggy, siblings: William, Thomas, Mariwyn, Frank, Robert, and Vincent. He survived by siblings:
Patricia (Philip D’Entremont), Margaret (Duff), Joseph (Adeline) and Elizabeth (Scott). Along with many Nieces, Nephews and their families.
Funeral services are being planned for a future date in Ft. Lauderdale and internment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair, New Jersey. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 3rd., at 10:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4595 Bayview Drive, Fort Lauderdale,Fl. 33308
