Brian Joseph Goff
July 27, 1948 – August 24, 2021
Brian Joseph Goff, 73, went home to be with the Lord on August 24, 2021. He was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on July 27, 1948, the only child of the late George and Rosalie Goff. Brian met Patricia who was to become the love of his life on the tennis court in 1986. They married in 1988 and lived happily together for 33 years. And through the many challenges of 33 years of marriage, the smile never left his face when he spoke about his “Patty.”
After an early career in sales in Rhode Island, he moved to Florida in 1979 and continued to work in sales/customer service until he went back to college in 2000, graduating from Florida Atlantic University in 2008 with a master’s degree in education and counseling. He worked in the FAU Counseling Center until his retirement. After retiring, he found his real passion in helping the children of Cypress Elementary School. He worked especially with children who did not have English as a primary language helping them to learn English so they could have a better future.
He was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Pompano Beach and later Christ Church United Methodist where he served in many capacities. Serving within the church and in the community, his primary goal was to show the world the love of Jesus.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. If you were not his friend already, you would be after talking to him for five minutes.
Brian strived to make the world a better place for anyone he came into contact with no matter who you were – the check-out person, the wait staff at our favorite restaurants, the guy on the street corner, or the CEO of a large corporation.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service in the gym at Christ Church United Methodist, 4845 N.E. 25th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33308, on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. – please dress in colorful attire as we gather to celebrate Brian’s life. In lieu of flowers, we are requesting donations to Cypress Elementary School, 851 S.W. 3rd Avenue, Pompano Beach, Floida 33060 in memory of “Mr. Brian” – these funds will be used to further the work he started at Cypress in helping with reading supplies, sneakers, uniforms, etc.
