Egbert Alexander White was born on December 26th, 1933 in Rambla, Manchester, Jamaica, WI to the late Catherine Burton Pascal and Vernon White. Egbert White affectionately known as "Pops" to many and "Eggy" or "Alex" to other, He attended Rable Primary School and Bumper Hall Secondary School. Lastly he attended technical school to become a certified electrician while working at Bauxite in Ewerton Jamaica.
At a young age Egbert met and fell in love with Gloria "Nez" Barriffe. Together they migrated to Freeport, Bahamas. After his tenure in Freeport he then ventured to the United States to pursue his dream to become the first minority to join the IBEW #697 and continued to work there until his retirement.
Egbert has never met a stranger and was loved by all who came in his path. He was a loving person, especially to his family. Egbert enjoyed traveling, loved to fellowship with family and friends and live entertainment.
In March of 1971, Nez and Eggy were united as one in Toronto, Canada with blessings of their children.
Egbert Alexander "Pops" White departed this life on Friday, March 9th, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine Pascal and Vernon White; wife, Gloria White; siblings, Harry Stewart, NormanIcyline Green, Euphema Green, Beryl White, Daphnae White, Joyce White and "Pogo."
Pops leaves to cherish his precious memories his children; sons, Orville "Junior" White, Glenroy White, Glendon "Karl" White, Michael Whyte; daughters, Deborah Keltie, Audrey Perkins, Yvette Johnson, Nichole Adams and Michelle Gayle; brother Edgar Green; 51 grandchildren and a host of great-grands and great-great grands.
In the later years of Egbert's life, Marcia Gibbs graciously cared for him until his demise.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 17th, 2018 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Baird-Case Jordan-Fannin Funeral Home, 4343 N. Federal Highway, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with Funeral starting at 12:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
