Esionne Depestre

December 8, 1925 ~ October 15, 2018 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Tribute

December 8th. 1924 an Angel was born on the island of Haiti, her name Esionne Depestre.             Some of us know her as mother others a special friend, but to truly know her is to know "Love".
For this is who she was. Whether it was food, clothing, or shelter her door was always opened.   She always had a kind word to make your  situations a little better;  for she was a Godfearing woman. There never seemed an obstacle she couldn't surpass.
Family was her greatest joy. She taught us to be kind to whoever we came across for we never knew when they would be of service to us. She was a light for all who sought her aid.Who would have thought that in 1978 this fierce, fearless woman walking thru JFK for the first time would be the greatest gift anyone could have received.
She was never scared to work hard for what she wanted. Be it raising the countless number of children in her neighborhood to selling her wares on Newkirk& E.26th street. She self-taught herself English by watching "I Love Lucy" and Bob Barker's Price is Right, or according to Grammy; "it's time for come on down". She was a force to be reckoned with.
Her greatest accomplishments were her children. Even though she lost 2 ,they were always in her heart and words. For her remaining 2 there was nothing she wouldn't do. She was preceded in death by her sons Eric and Frantz and husband Emile who are there with opened arms to greet her. She is survived by her eldest child Martha Bernard, and her son Gerald or" Jerry " as he's better known. Her grandchildren Barbara, Betty, Carolyn, Jean, Stephen, Erica, Kendra, Jason, Christina, Kageene, Francesca, and, Carrine. Her great-grands Sasha, JeHarra, Alexandra, Ohlia, Maliq, Kaja, Mikayla, and twins David and Dion, as well as, Armand her nephew and Therese, Roseline, Jeanine, and Analouse her nieces.
This is not a sad day but one of rejoice because she is now in eternal happiness and peace with our Heavenly Father in Jesus' name. So let us rejoice her life and follow her example
