Evangeline R. Gaddis, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2023
in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She was born October 13, 1932 in Alexandria, VA, to Timothy and Irene Ragen. Vangie was one of 14 children. She graduated Mt. Vernon High School in 1952. Vangie worked as a secretary at the Pentagon, where she started as an intern in high school.
In 1960 along with her then husband and three children, she moved to Florida. Fort Lauderdale where she raised her children and resided for the next 63 years. She worked as a secretary for her then husband’s transportation company for 18 years. After raising her children and the end of her marriage, Vangie traveled the country in an RV with her life partner Don. She also volunteered at the local hospital in a secretarial position.
Vangie was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She loved to babysit her grandchildren. She always had an adventurous spirit, traveling around the country, hiking in the mountains and going on cruises. She could be seen driving around town in her red sports car. Vangie also enjoyed attending concerts and sporting events. She was an avid Miami Dolphins fan.
Vangie is survived by her children, Gregory and Michael; her 6 grandchildren and her 6 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son Scott.
Burial will be in Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, Virginia.
