George Edwin Hamilton Jr.

George Edwin Hamilton passed into eternal life at Memorial Hospital in Pembroke Pines, Florida on Sunday, August 1, 2021. He was born on January 20, 1932, in Louisville, Kentucky to George and Ann Hamilton. Ed’s life was a gift and blessing to all who knew him.

Ed graduated from Flaget High School and Bellarmine College. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served during the Korean War. He was the Director of Development at Bellarmine College and was then associated with the University of Miami in its Fort Lauderdale office as he continued this career. Ed later worked with Insight for The Blind in Fort Lauderdale.

In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his wife, Edna, and his brother, Patrick. He is survived by his brother, Dr. Michael T. Hamilton, his nieces, Donna Milam, Mary Hamilton, and nephews, John and Michael Hamilton along with many cousins in Florida, Louisville, and Nashville, and also by the special friend who cared for him for many years, Julie Chase.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Church, 1826 Edenside Avenue, with funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 on Thursday, August 12, 2021. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Insight For The Blind.
