Jerome “Jerry” Johnson, 77 of Pompano Beach, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022. He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and moved to Florida in 1957.
Jerry became a local businessman with his father and mother at age 16 when in 1962, the family bought a fuel dock and boat rental business on the Intercoastal Waterway in Pompano Beach. In 1969, the family expanded their business and opened Pompano Beach Marine Center, where Jerry forged and instilled his work ethic and core value into the next generation. This value, like the man himself, was simple and honest: Treat customers the way you want to be treated yourself. Each and every day up until his passing, Jerry worked and lived by this value.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, June; his treasured children Jill and Jon (Beth) Burkert; and his cherished grandchildren Brock, Cole, and Addison Burkert.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Baird-Case Jordan-Fannin Funeral Home, from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 4343 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, where services will also be held on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
