We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Baird-Case Jordan-Fannin Funeral Home & Cremation Service
John J. Moscato, 81, passed away on June 5, 2022 with his family by his side. John was born in Buffalo, NY, on March 17, 1941 to his late parent’s Jennie and Joseph Moscato. John thoroughly enjoyed the fact that he was an Italian born on St. Patrick’s Day! John was a long-time resident of Manhattan. He became a “snow-bird” after retirement and recently had been a fulltime resident of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, enjoying the year-round warm weather.
John was a proud twenty-year veteran of the New York City Police Force, 46th Precinct in the Bronx, NY, where he was a Sergeant to a close-knit unit of friends who knew him as “Downtown Johnny”.
John enjoyed his retirement, spending time with friends, family and grandkids while traveling, staying fit, going to ball games, enjoying horse races and eating great food. John never passed up a good wager and always involved his family with rooting for his team.
John was father to David (Jeannie) Moscato, Linda (Dan) Crean, Amy (Breck) Moscato, and John Moscato Jr. (predeceased), and brother to Joe Moscato and Ida Doherty. John was known as the “cool” grandpa to his grandchildren whom he adored, Myles Moscato, Zoe Crean, Madeleine Crean, and Jasmine Moscato.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday June 25th at 2:00 PM at Assumption Catholic Church, 2001 S. Ocean Blvd., Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Florida 33062.
