Josephine Russo Amaral, a S. FL resident since 1957, died on April 4, 2018
During WWII she married the love of her life, Alfred Amaral of Westport, MA. They were a devoted, inseparable couple that lived a life of Camelot for 61 years until Alfred’s death in 2005. Josie, the 7th of 9 children of Theresa and Frank Russo born Feb. 10, 1923 and the first to be born in their new home built by her father. She is predeceased by Alphonse, Luke, Cervario, Nicklaus and Gerald (Jerry) Russo, a pioneer in Nascar and auto sport car racing of the 40s and 50s; a New England Champion race car driver who is in the MA Auto Racing Hall of Fame.
Post WWII the Russo family’s talents brought Oxford, Webster and Dudley MA into the 20th century with their construction of modern homes and roads throughout the area. Margaret R. Matthews and Jossie designed and renovated homes in Worcester County in the 40s and 50s and later in the Miami area. In the late 70s they developed and built homes in Port St. Lucie with the expert advice of their husbands.
Josie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed, cherished and live forever in the hearts and prayers of her only child Christine Amaral Tocci, her husband Paul Tocci, MD, her grandchildren Paul Tocci Jr, Christine Tocci Shelton and Eric Tocci, MD and his wife Chrissy along with her great grandchildren Isabella and Tommy Shelton, Cameron, Blake and Dylan Tocci.
The family will receive friends, on Thursday, April 12th. from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00
p.m. at the Baird Case Jordan Fannin Funeral Home, 4343 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, Fl. 33308, Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 13th., at 10:30 a.m., at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 901 NE 2nd. Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301, Interment to follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, N. Lauderdale, FL.
