Linda (Lindy) Schmagel Weaver, age 68, of Oakland Park, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 16, 2020. She was born on December 4, 1952 to Col. A.O. Schmagel Jr. and Margie Rodgers Schmagel in Port Hueneme, California. Lindy graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in 1975. She married James Manley Weaver Jr. on March 22, 1980. Loving mother to Jessica Weaver Katelman and Carly Weaver. Beloved grandmother of Taylor Katelman, Mackenzie Katelman and Spencer Katelman. She is survived by sisters Cindy Whitaker and Connie Layer; sisters-in-law Barbara Bijou, Patricia Weaver and Mary Tovornik; brothers-in-law Al Layer, Richard Weaver, Steve Bijou and Kevin Tovornik; and son-in-law Kris Katelman.
Lindy was a preschool teacher at St. Mark’s Episcopal School for over 25 years, who shared her passion for learning with hundreds of children throughout her career. She was beloved by the faculty, staff and parents and touched the hearts of all who came across her path. Lindy started out as a commercial artist. She volunteered her time with the Junior League of Ft. Lauderdale. As well as the Stranahan House, drafting the education programing for children.
Services for family will be held St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1750 E. Oakland Park Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33334, on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 11am. A celebration of life will be held for all family and friends at Hugh’s Catering, 4351 N.E. 12th Terrace, Oakland Park, FL on December 23, 2020 at 12pm.
