Marcia Brown

Marcia Ann Brown, 82, passed away on May 23, 2022, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She was born on June 16, 1939, in Middletown, Ohio to Adrian and Betty Jane Brooks. She graduated from Middletown High School and then received her English degree from Miami University (Ohio) where she met her future husband, Ladd C.Brown. She was the first female editor of her college newspaper.

She and Ladd eventually settled in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the late 1960’s where they would raise their two beloved sons, Ladd Jr. (aka Chris) and Joel, living in the same house for 45 years. She attended Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and was very active in church functions. She was a high school English teacher in Broward County for 29 years, teaching first at Boyd Anderson and then for 25 years at Northeast High School where she retired on January 17, 2006, after shaping the lives of thousands of young men and women. She never missed her daily trips to Publix where everyone knew her by her first name.

Marcia is predeceased by her beloved husband, Ladd C. Brown. She is survived by her son, Ladd C. Brown, Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Susan Brown, her son, Joel A. Brown; and her grandchildren Ladd Marco, Alexandra Lousan, Addison Brooke, Brooks Westman, Bennett Christian, Sabrina Susan, Michel Esperanza, Angelina Grace and Emmanuel Christman.

The funeral will be held at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Monday, June 6th, 2022, at 1 p.m., with a viewing starting at noon.
