Born in Chicago, IL, in the course of her lifetime, Mary lived in Boston, MA; Detroit, MI; Scarsdale, Chappaqua, Manhattan, and Rochester, NY; and São Paulo, Brazil. All her life, Mary loved to travel. She has now taken her final trip—from time to eternity.
In addition to raising a family, Mary earned an MA and an EdD at the University of Rochester. She taught as an Assistant and Associate Professor at the State University of New York at Geneseo, Western Connecticut State College in Danbury, and the College of New Rochelle.
Since moving to Ft. Lauderdale in 1987, she was active in the American Association of University Women (Pompano Beach), the St. John the Baptist Women’s Guild, the Gold Circle of Nova University, the Freedoms Foundation, the English-Speaking Union, and the Broward Public Library Foundation. She and her husband were members of the Coral Ridge Yacht Club.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Margaret McGrath (Edward) of Lighthouse Point, FL, and Susan Hart-White (Richard) of Ridgewood, NJ; her brother Peter M. Anderson of Westville, NJ; eight grandchildren (Daniel, John, Andrew, and David Ramish; Philip and Terry McGrath; and Erin and Colin White); and seven great-grandchildren. She is reunited with her dear husband of nearly 64 years, Frank Paul Hart, who predeceased her in 2016, and their daughter Ann Ramish (Timothy), who died in May 2019.
Friends may call on Friday, October 18, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Baird–Case Jordan–Fannin Funeral Home (4343 N. Federal Highway, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, 33308).
