Mary Pieri

Mary Pieri, 71, passed away surrounded by loved ones in her home on March 21, 2023, after a difficult battle with breast cancer. Mary was born to Neophytos and Chrisi Demetriou in Mufulira, Zambia. Her parents later settled in Bulawayo, Rhodesia (modern Zimbabwe), where she met Costas Pieri. They wed in 1973, going on to have three children, Chrisoulla, Coulla, and Tony. They moved to Pretoria, South Africa in 1985 and lived there for eleven years before emigrating to Hollywood, Florida, as Mary had always dreamed of living near her siblings.

Nothing made Mary happier than cooking and baking for her family and friends in her kitchen, which was known in the family as “Mary’s House of Carbs.” Mary also loved spending time in Cyprus visiting her extended family and lifelong friends and enjoying her home in Peyia that she missed so much. She was a selfless and courageous woman and we are heartbroken at the thought of a world without the love and warmth of our amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

Mary was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband, her three children, and three grandchildren. A service will be held in Florida for family members, and the funeral will be held in Cyprus at a later date.
