Minerva Bloom

September 24, 1959 ~ February 20, 2018 (age 58) 58 Years Old
Minerva Bloom passed away February 20th, 2018 surrounded by family in her home. She was born September 24th, 1959 in a small town in the mountains of Michoacan, Mexico. An only child, with many aunts, uncles, and cousins, Minerva was oldest of her generation. She knew and loved every cousin from the day of their birth. In January 1980, she met her husband John in Guadalajara, and 5 years later they were married. While she and John raised 3 children, she became a certified fitness instructor, and wrote or collaborated on many books. She was a gifted artist, poet, illustrator, and photographer, and enjoyed crafting jewelry. All of her works were from the heart, which were shared and gifted to other artists and friends. She loved family travel, music, nature, and adventure.
The last 8 years she has devoted her time and energy to the Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale Museum. She created and maintained their website, organized events, and arranged the museum space.
She was selfless, and did not seek attention nor praise. She became very close to the many veterans and volunteers. Much through her efforts the museum is what it is today. Minerva was predeceased by her parents, and is survived by her 3 children: Matthew, Peter (Manuela), Noelia, her husband John, her in-laws, Mary and Tom Kelly and family, and by the many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Mexico who grieve her loss. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale Museum in memory of Minerva Bloom. The family thanks the doctors and nurses at Holy Cross Hospital and Vitas Hospice for their compassionate care. She will be remembered by her family for her beauty, sweetness, and loving nature.

The family will receive friends, on Friday, February 23rd. from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., at the Baird Case Jordan Fannin Funeral Home, 4343 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 .
