Dr Nicola Lembessis

Dr. Nicola Lembessis was born in Strefi, Messinias, Greece on March 12, 1927.    He served in the Greek Army for 3 years and then moved to Italy in 1954 to study medicine at the University of Bologna.   He moved to the US in 1962 to undertake his residency training in internal medicine in Boston at New England Deaconess and Dorchester Hospital, and specialized fellow training in gastroenterology at the Lahey Clinic.  

After finishing his training, Dr. Lembessis opened a medical practice in Manchester, NH in 1968 where he served the community continuously for over 35 years.   He was known for his kindness, warmth and generosity to his patients, as well as friends and family.   He went to work and then came home everyday with a smile on his face.   He loved his profession and loved caring for people.    

Dr. Lembessis was a life-long member of and served for several years as President of the Hellenic Medical Society, which often sponsored new doctors coming from Greece to America, just as he had done.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Theodosia “Sia” Lembessis and his son Daniel Lembessis, and three beautiful and dearly loved grandchildren: Angelina (15), Aristotle (12), Nikolas (8).   

In retirement, Dr. Lembessis and his wife moved to Lauderdale-by-the-Sea in 2003 and have resided in the same home since relocating to Florida. The family are members of both St. Demetrios and St. Mark’s Greek Orthodox Church.   

Dr. Nicola Lembessis will be greatly missed.
