Patricia Ann Lee

Patricia was born on March 15, 1932 in New York City to Kathleen Mary McAllister of Belturbit, Ireland, and Robert Byrd Lee of Charleston, S.C. Her mother passed away less than a year after she was born, and Patricia lived for several years with her maternal grandmother, Anne Reilly McAllister, including, for a time in Ireland. She graduated from Saint Vincent School of Nursing in 1952 as a Registered Nurse, and Married Carl William Lenz in 1953. In 1960, they adopted Heidi, and in 1961, Erica was born to the couple.

Patricia loved working in labor and delivery, served as a school nurse at Saint Coleman’s Catholic School in Pompano Beach, and later went on to get her teaching credentials. Patricia served in the Broward County School District at Ely and Taravella High Schools as the Health Occupations teacher.

Patricia loved to travel and would share stories of her many adventures with anyone who would listen. Just before retiring in 1990, she purchased her dream car-a 1990 white Corvette convertible. She had first become enamored of the Chevrolet Corvette at the 1953 Automobile Show she had attended with Carl. Patricia’s oldest grandson remembers his first solo visit to Florida as a young twelve year old boy thinking his grandmother was so cool picking him up in her white convertible corvette.

After her retirement, she continued traveling the world both on cruises and by plane, and has thirty photo albums documenting her travels! Patricia’s greatest joys were found in her family, her cats, her home of nearly sixty years, her travels, and her classic corvette.
Friends and family fondly remember her charisma, her nurse’s compassionate heart, how put together she always looked when out and about, the classy way she carried herself, her penchant for storytelling, and her smile.

Patricia is survived by her daughters Heidi Kutney with her husband William, and Erica English; her grandchildren: William Kutney, Jr, Kelly Kutney Harrington, Carl Kutney, Rachel English, and Hunter English; and by her great-grandchildren: Sydney and Keera Harrington, Ashlyn, Kahli, Haley, and McKenna Kutney, and Sawyer Kutney.

Thank you, Jesus, for 89 years of an amazing life shared with so many.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4595 Bayview Drive, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33308.

Interment to follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in North Lauderdale, Florida.
