We don’t know where to start Dad’s story, so might as well, just start at the beginning.

Our wonderful father was the son of Paul and Victoria Bujalski. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 20th 1924, of Polish decent, the third of six children. He came from a family of very caring, honest and hardworking people. The term “close-knit” would be an appropriate description.

Needless to say, our Dad passed these values onto his own family and we are blessed with an exceptional family heritage.

Getting back to the story though: Dad worked on the family farm in Garrettsville, Ohio in his youth. Then, when WWII broke out he went to Europe and was a tank driver in Patton’s 2nd Armored Division from 1942-1946. After he got back home, he married his sweetheart, Alice Hrobak. They had 3 children in Ohio and then struck out on their own, moving to Ft. Lauderdale in 1956; looking for the proverbial pot at the end of the rainbow. And guess what? They found it…together.

Mom and Dad made quite a team over the years, celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary on May 1st. The two of them just “clicked”…like poetry in motion; like a World Series or Super Bowl team…always working together.

Our Dad has worn many professional hats during his lifetime. He was a farmer, soldier, an accountant, a builder/developer, a businessman and a landlord to name a few. For the majority of his life though, he was a builder…a builder of homes, apartments, condominiums, office buildings and nursing homes throughout South Florida and the Keys.

The hats that were most important to him though, were personal ones; those of husband, father, son, brother and friend.

Dad was also proud of being an exceptional provider and for being successful in all of his endeavors. He always kept his eye on the future; on what he could try next. He couldn’t wait to get his hands on some new project. He worked hard and tirelessly…a value inspired, no doubt, by his upbringing; as well as, an inner drive…a hunger, if you will, to live the “American Dream.” Which he did, by the way…he started from humble beginnings, and made good… our Dad was a self-made success.

Of course, he had help along the way…from Alice, who worked side-by-side with him in the office for 50 years. Our brother, Stan also joined in and it became a “real” family business. Again, family and working hard, together…recurring themes throughout our Dad’s life.

We thought our Dad might well live forever. He was so strong. He seemed to be invincible. Hadn’t he plowed a cornfield on foot behind a horse as a boy? Hadn’t he made it through WWII…through a Belgium winter so severe that his feet froze to the bottom of his Sherman tank? Hadn’t he worked well into his 90’s, when most of his contemporaries had retired a quarter-century prior? Hadn’t he made it through countless surgeries and procedures again and again…defying all the odds to the amazement of so many of his doctors? Was he just lucky…or did he possess an inner drive to just “keep on keeping on”? I’m sure you’ll agree that it was the latter.

Our father had an amazing life and he was amazing.
He was an exceptional man…a most remarkable man and we’ve been blessed to have him in our lives for so long. He is greatly missed.
